Off Road Adventure

There is so much to see in Israel which I am very happy to show you - Jerusalem and its 4,000 years of history, the Galilee where Jesus walked, Tzfat where Kabbalah wisdom developed and so much more. But if you would like to go a little further off the beaten track on some Off Road Adventure there is so much more to see!

Tour: South to the Negev Desert

The Negev Desert on a private tour

This is one of my favourite tours! It can be a day tour, a multi-day trip or a day of exploration on the way down to Eilat.

After leaving the Tel Aviv area will head south to the Negev Desert. I often to go to one of several ancient Nabatean cities to see their silent ruins once set along the ancient Incense Route. The road leads us to the Tomb of David Ben Gurion, the first prime minister of Israel, his former simple kibbutz home and spectacular desert tomb.

Even in the hottest summer days the nearby spring of Ein Akev (after following an off road path suitable only for four wheel drive vehicles) will provide us a nice refreshing bathing opportunity in a desert oasis.

Spending the night in the desert can be in total luxury at the Beresheet Hotel overlooking the Ramon Crater, Glamping or in a small desert farm with cabins to let.

Whichever option you choose the Israeli desert awaits!

Tour: Judean Desert Monasteries

One of the easiest day tours out of Tel Aviv or Jerusalem is to the Judean Desert. Its a relatively short drive away and offers an incredible array of sites and off road adventure. A typical day starts at Jabel Muntar with incredible views of the Dead Sea and Jordan. It is from here that the "Scape Goat" was rolled to its death. Continue off road to the spectacular hanging monastery of Mar Saba. An incredible wonder built into the side of canyon where it still houses Greek Orthodox monks to this day. As we continue down the mountain views of the Dead Sea will soon follow (bathing on the Dead Sea is an option). Other sites in the area are the Baptismal site on the Jordan River and the beautiful spring of Ein Maboa. Not far from here is the Tomb of the Prophet Moses (according to some traditions at least...).

This is an amazing day and only 1.5 hours away from Tel Aviv.
